Luca's Arrival, September 25, 2007

After three and a half weeks of early labor and more false starts than we want to count, our son has finally arrived. He was born ten days late on 9/25/07. We joke that he was waiting on the full moon and making sure we knew who would be in charge for the next eighteen to twenty-one years.

Both moms and baby are doing well. Lucas Lee Rhoads-Weaver is named after four of his grandparents. Lucas is Barb's maternal grandmother's last name. Lee is Heather's mom's middle name. And he gets his last name Rhoads from Heather's dad and Weaver from Barb's dad. We plan to call him Luca.He was 7 pounds 14 ounces and 19 inches long. He has wavy reddish hair, and plenty of it. A few pictures are attached. After we get some sleep and
settle into a routine, Barb will set up a website to share more pictures.

Love,
Barb, Heather & Luca

Luca and Heather, "Mom" — Barb will be called "Mama"
if Luca cooperates!

Could you write out the "long" story of your wild trip to the birthing center in rush hour traffic from Vashon Island to Kirkland? And could you tell about all the previous trips there with false labor?

Also, did Heather have any unusual cravings for pickles and watermelon or anything? And how about "sympathy" cravings for Barb?

Also, please tell us when Luca first answers to his name.

Also, will you be using behavior modification or time-out or some other form of discipline?

What will your teaching style be — hands on or benign neglect or something else?
